Roads, Snow & Ice
Maintenance priorities, plowing schedules, sweeping and how to report a problem.
Snow and ice control
When it snows, crews follow Council's approved priority routes:
- Priority 1: emergency routes, major arterials and school zones
- Priority 2: collector roads, transit routes and downtown
- Priority 3: residential lanes and cul-de-sacs
Residential plowing begins after Priority 1 and 2 routes are clear and 8 cm or more has accumulated. Sidewalks adjacent to your property are the owner's responsibility — clear them within 24 hours of snowfall.
Street sweeping
Sweeping runs in spring and fall. Watch for temporary "no parking" signs in your area; vehicles left on the street during a sweep may be ticketed and moved.
Closures and construction
Current road closures and construction projects are posted to News as they're announced. The homepage quick-cards carry active closures.
Report a pothole, sign or streetlight problem: use Report a Concern — attach a photo and we'll route it to Roads.
