E-scooters, e-bikes, hoverboards and mobility devices each have their own rules in Alberta — and they differ by where you ride.
On sidewalks: only mobility aids are permitted. Small vehicles such as e-scooters must use bike lanes or roads where the speed limit is 50 km/h or less.
Helmets: riders under 18 must wear a helmet on any bicycle or power-assisted bicycle; the Town encourages helmet use for all riders.
On pathways: the Highwood River pathway system is shared-use — keep right, signal when passing, and keep speeds at a walking pace near pedestrians.
